'Dog Days Are Over'(독 데이즈 아 오버)는 영국 인디 록 밴드 플로런스 앤드 더 머신(Florence and Machine)의 데뷔 앨범 'Lungs'(렁스, 2009) 수록곡이다. 곡목은 '삼복 더위는 끝났다' 정도의 뜻이 되겠다. 'Dog Days Are Over'는 아티스트 우고 론디노네(Ugo Rondinone)의 설치 작품명이기도 하다.
'Dog Days Are Over'는 원래 2008년 11월 24일 앨범의 두 번째 싱글로 커트되어 발매될 예정이었으나 2008년 12월 1일로 연기되었다. 미국에서는 하루 후인 2008년 12월 2일 아이엠사운드 레코드(IAMSOUND Records)를 통해 다운로드 및 7인치 비닐 형식으로 출시되었다. 싱글 B면은 캔디 스태튼(Candi Staton)이 피처링한 소스(The Source)의 'You Got the Love'(유 갓 더 러브)를 커버한 노래다. 싱글은 영국과 미국, 캐나다, 아일랜드에서 톱 30에 진입했다.
'Dog Days Are Over'의 데모 버전은 'Lungs'의 디럭스 에디션 디스크 2에 수록되어 있다. 6분 40초 길이의 'Dog Days Are Over' 옵티모(Optimo) 리믹스도 들을 수 있다. 어쿠스틱 버전은 BBC 라디오 1 빅 위켄드(Radio 1 Big Weekend)에서 라이브로 연주되었다. 이 트랙은 2008년~2009년에 레딩(Reading) 페스티벌, 리즈(Leeds) 페스티벌을 비롯한 수많은 유명 페스티벌에서 연주되었다. 밴드는 또한 머큐리 프라이즈 2009(Mercury Prize 2009) 시상식 쇼와 BBC 인트로듀싱(Introducing)에서 이 노래를 연주했다.
'Dog Days Are Over'는 화장실 크기만한 작은 스튜디오에서 악기 없이 녹음되었다. 이 노래는 리드 싱어인 플로런스 웰치(Florence Welch)가 자전거를 타고 매일 워털루 다리를 건너면서 바라보곤 했던 아티스트 우고 론디노네의 'Dog Days Are Over'라는 제목의 거대한 설치 작품에서 영감을 얻었다. 이 곡은 영국의 일렉트로닉 뮤직 듀오 시미언 모바일 디스코(Simian Mobile Disco)와 슈퍼 그룹 더 래스트 섀도우 퍼피츠(The Last Shadow Puppets)의 멤버 제임스 포드(James Ford)와 이저벨러 서머즈(Isabella Summers)가 공동으로 프로듀싱하고 믹싱했다. 그는 영국 롹 밴드 블록 파티(Bloc Party)와 아크틱 멍키(Arctic Monkeys)의 곡들을 프로듀싱한 것으로도 유명하다. 그는 또한 앨범 'Lungs'를 녹음할 때 피아노와 기타를 연주했다.
