'Another Girl, Another Planet'(어너더 걸, 어나더 플래닛)은 영국의 록 밴드 디 온리 원스(The Only Ones)가 1978년에 발매한 데뷔 셀프 타이틀 앨범의 두 번째 트랙이다. 밴드 라인업은 피터 페렛(Peter Perrett), 앨런 메어(Alan Mair), 존 페리(John Perry), 마이크 켈리(Mike Kellie) 등 4명이다. 이 노래는 밴드에서 가장 성공한 곡이며, 이후 여러 다른 아티스트들이 커버했다. 

 

싱글 'Another Girl, Another Planet' 표지

'Another Girl, Another Planet' 트랙은 1978년 처음 출시되었을 때는 차트 히트 곡이 아니었다. 이 곡은 3년 뒤인 1981년 6월 7일 뉴질랜드에서 일주일 동안 44위를 기록했다. 1992년 1월 영국에서 다시 싱글로 발매된 'Another Girl, Another Planet'은 영국 싱글 차트 에서 57위로 정점을 찍었다.

'Another Girl, Another Planet'은 한번 들으면 잊지 못할 인트로, 재치 있게 길게 빼는 발음의 가사, 완성도 높고 휘황찬란한 기타 솔로를 자랑한다. 이 곡에 대해 올뮤직(AllMusic)은 "아마도 지금까지 녹음된 최고의 록 싱글이다."라고 극찬했다. 존 필(John Peel)은 이 노래를 페스티브 피프티(Festive Fifty) 2000년 판에서 18위, 2005년 3월 Q 매거진은 100대 기타 트랙 목록에서 83위에 선정했다.

북아일랜드 록 밴드 애쉬(Ash)의 팀 휠러(Tim Wheeler)는 'Another Girl, Another Planet'에 대해 "놀라운 기타 라인의 환상적인 노래"라며 열광했다. 그는 "다른 행성에서 온 소녀가 마약에 관한 것임을 알아내는 데 오랜 시간이 걸렸다. 우주 여행은 높은 사람이 된다는 은유이다. 결국 그것을 포기한 것은 피터 페렛의 헤로인-헤비 드롤(heroin-heavy drawl) 때문이었다."고 말했다. 2015년 인터뷰에서 페렛은 이 노래가 실제로 소녀에게서 영감을 받았으며, 헤로인에 관한 것이 아니라고 선언했다. 하지만, 그는 항상 "2~3개의 다른 뜻으로 해석될 수 있는 모호한 가사 쓰기를 즐겼다."고 인정했다.

'Another Girl, Another Planet'은 조용한 기타 라인을 시작으로 베이스와 퍼커션이 중간에 합류하고, 1분이 지나서야 페렛의 비음 섞인 보컬이 등장한다. I always flirt with death(난 항상 죽음과 시시덕거리지). I could kill, but I don’t care about it(난 죽일 수도 있어. 하지만 난 그런 데는 신경 안 써)..... 이처럼 페렛은 뛰어난 작사가였다. 그의 이런 문학적 소양은 런던 남부의 길거리와 영국 기숙사 학교에서 얻어진 것이었다.

'Another Girl, Another Planet'을 포함해서 페렛의 노래 중 다수는 마약에 대한 암시를 담고 있다. 페렛은 밴드의 첫 자체 제작 앨범 비용을 마련하기 위해 마약을 팔았고, 후에 자신도 심각하게 중독되었다고 고백했다. 그는 마약 복용자인 조니 썬더스(Johnny Thunders)와 함께 'You Can’t Put Your Arms around a Memory'를 연주하기도 했다.

밴드의 대표곡 'Another Girl, Another Planet'은 'That Summer!'(1979), 'Different for Girls'(1996), 'Me Without You'(2001), 'D.E.B.S.'(2004), 'Paul'(2011), 'Her Smell'(2018) 등의 영화 사운드트랙에 삽입되었다. 또, 영국 록 밴드 베이비솀블즈(Babyshambles), 미국 록 밴드 리플레이스먼츠(The Replacements), 미국 펑크 록 밴드 블링크-182(Blink-182) 등 여러 밴드들이 이 곡을 커버했다. 노래 제목은 1992년 마이클 알머레이다(Michael Almereyda) 감독의 독립영화 제목으로 사용되기도 했다. 하지만 이 영화의 사운드트랙에는 삽입되지 않았다.
