'Into the Groove'(인투 더 그루브)는 로재나 아퀘트(Rosanna Arquette), '팝의 여왕' 머다너(Madonna) 주연의 1985년 영화 'Desperately Seeking Susan'(수전을 찾아서)의 사운드트랙에 삽입된 노래다. 노래도 주인공 머다너가 직접 불렀다. 'Into the Groove'는 마땅하게 번역할 말을 찾기가 어렵다. 'groove'는 '최고조, (음악의) 리듬' 등의 뜻이 있다. '열기 속으로'라고 번역할 수도 있다. 하지만, 뉘앙스를 살려 그냥 '그루브 속으로' 정도로 번역하는 것도 좋다.
'Into the Groove'는 머다너와 스티븐 브레이(Stephen Bray)가 함께 뉴욕의 나이트클럽 '댄스티어리어(Danceteria)'의 댄스 플로어에서 영감을 받아서 쓴 곡이다. 두 사람은 발코니 건너편에서 잘생긴 도미니카인 남자를 바라보며 이 노래를 작곡했다고 한다. 작곡가이자 드러머, 음반 제작자인 브레이는 머다너가 그룹 브렉퍼스트 클럽(The Breakfast Club) 맴버일 때 만났다. 브레이도 당시 이 그룹의 멤버였다.
머다너는 처음에 'Into the Groove'를 그녀의 친구이자 뉴욕의 유명 DJ, 음반 제작자 마크 카민스(Mark Kamins)를 위해 썼다고 한다. 하지만, 머다너는 이 곡을 나중에 영화 'Desperately Seeking Susan'의 사운드트랙으로 사용하기로 결정했다. 영화감독 수잔 세이들먼(Susan Seidelman)으로서는 그야말로 대환영이었다.
'Into the Groove'는 북아메리카 이외의 지역에서 1984년에 재발행된 머다너의 두 번째 스튜디오 앨범 'Like a Virgin'(라이크 어 버진)에 실렸다. 이 곡은 1985년 7월 15일 앨범 'Like a Virgin'에서 싱글로 커트되어 발매되었다.
'Into the Groove'는 신시사이저와 드럼 머신 연주에 마돈나의 발랄한 목소리를 얹은 신나고 경쾌한 댄스 곡이다. 가사는 주인공이 상대에게 플로어로 나와 함께 그루브(댄스 열기) 속으로 빠지자고 청하는 내용이다. 가사에는 노골적이지는 않지만 성적인 풍자와 뉘앙스가 담겨 있다. 뮤직 비디오는 영화 'Desperately Seeking Susan'의 클립으로 구성되었다.
'Into the Groove'는 평단의 호평을 받으면서 상업적으로도 성공했다. 영국에서 머다너의 첫 번째 1위 곡이 된 'Into the Groove'는 호주, 벨기에, 이탈리아, 아일랜드, 일본, 네덜란드, 뉴질랜드, 스페인 차트에서도 1위를 휩쓸었다. 같은 앨범에서 12인치 싱글 'Angel'(에인절)이 미국에서 발매됐기 때문에 이 곡은 당시 '빌보드 핫 100 차트'에는 오르지 못했다.

'Into the Groove'는 머다너의 콘서트 투어 단골 넘버이기도 하다. 호주 가수 대니 미노그(Dannii Minogue)를 비롯한 많은 뮤지션들이 이 노래를 커버했다. 미노그는 자신의 싱글 'Don’t Wanna Lose This Feeling'과 결합시킨 커버 버전을 내놓았다. 이 노래는 2021년 롤링 스톤의 '역대 최고의 노래 500곡' 목록에서 161위에 올랐다.
