'The End'(디 엔드)는 LA에서 결성한 미국의 롹 밴드 도어즈(The Doors)의 서사적인 노래다. 리드 싱어 짐 모리슨(Jim Morrison)은 처음에 그의 연인 메리 웨어빌로우(Mary Werbelow)와의 이별에 대한 가사를 썼지만, 위스키 어 고 고(Whisky a Go Go)에서 몇 달 간 공연을 하면서 훨씬 더 긴 노래로 발전했다. 도어즈는 1967년 1월 4일에 발매된 셀프 타이틀 데뷔 앨범에 수록하기 위해 거의 12분짜리 버전을 녹음했다.
노래 중반부를 지나면 'The killer awoke before dawn/He put his boots on'(살인자는 새벽 전에 깨어났다/그는 부츠를 신었다)이라는 말과 함께 구어 섹션으로 들어간다. 구어 섹션은 'Father/Yes son?/I want to kill you/Mother, I want to ...'(아버지/그래, 아들?/난 당신을 죽이고 싶어/엄마, 난 .....하고 싶어)에서 절정에 이른다. 야릇한 외디푸스 콤플렉스를 떠올리게 하는 구절이다.
브릿지 파트에서는 'fuck'(퍽)이란 단어가 여러 번 등장한다. 기악 솔로 섹션에 'fuck'을 도입한 것은 모리슨의 아이디어였다. 모리슨은 'fuck 을 한 번도 아니고 무련 19번이나 반복해서 외쳐댄다. 점잖은 청중들은 이 부분에서 당황할 수도 있다.

'The End'는 블랙 사바스(Black Sabbath)부터 컬트(Cult), 조이 디비전(Joy Division)에 이르기까지 수많은 밴드에게 영감을 불어넣었다. 이 곡은 2010년 롤링 스톤 매거진(Rolling Stone magazine)의 '시대를 초월해서 가장 위대한 노래 500곡' 목록에서 336위로 선정됐다. 이 노래의 기타 솔로 연주는 기타 월드(Guitar World)의 '시대를 초월해서 가장 위대한 기타 솔로 100명' 목록에서 93위를 기록했다.
