'Gloria'(글로리아)는 북아일랜드의 싱어송라이터 밴 모리슨(Van Morrison)이 작곡한 롹 곡으로, 원래 모리슨의 밴드 뎀(Them)이 1964년에 취입했다. 이 노래는 싱글 'Baby, Please Don't Go'(베이비, 플리스 돈트 고)의 B면으로 발매되었다. 이 노래는 거라지 롹((garage rock)의 표준곡이자 많은 롹 밴드의 레퍼토리로 자리잡았다. 'Gloria'는 3개의 코드만을 가진 단순한 곡으로 연주하기 쉬워 기타를 배우는 사람들에게 인기가 높다.

모리슨은 만 18세 때인 1963년 여름 독일에서 모나크스(Monarchs)와 함께 공연하면서 'Gloria'를 작곡했다. 그는 북아일랜드 벨파스트(Belfast)로 돌아와 밴드 뎀을 결성하기 위해 갬블러스(Gamblers)에 합류한 뒤 마리타임 호텔(Maritime Hotel)에서 'Gloria'를 연주하기 시작했다. 모리슨은 연주하는 동시에 가사를 애드립으로 만들었다.

1964년 4월 5일 밴드는 런던으로 가 웨스트 햄스테드(West Hampstead)의 데카 쓰리 스튜디오(Decca Three Studios)에서 녹음 세션을 마쳤다. 녹음 세션에는 모리슨 외에 빌리 해리슨(Billy Harrison, 기타), 앨런 헨더슨(Alan Henderson, 베이스 기타), 로니 밀링스(Ronnie Millings, 드럼), 패트릭 존 맥컬리(Patrick John McCauley. 키보드) 등이 공식 라인업으로 참여했다. 세션 뮤지션 아서 그린슬레이드(Arthur Greenslade, 오르간)와 바비 그레이엄(Bobby Graham, 드럼)은 객원 연주자로 참여했다. 뎀은 녹음에 두 명의 드러머를 사용한 최초의 롹 그룹이었다.

'Gloria'는 밴 모리슨이 외친 단순하면서 동물적인 정욕의 찬가였다. 이 노래는 미국 서부 해안에서 지역 히트곡이 되었다. 1965년 4월 싱글 'Gloria'는 로스앤젤레스 라디오 방송국 KRLA의 주간 Top 40 차트에서 3주 동안 1위를 차지했다. 1966년 5월 14일에는 빌보드 핫 100 차트에서 75위에 올랐다.

1965년 12월 미국 롹 밴드 섀도우스 오브 나이트(The Shadows of Knight)는 'Gloria' 커버 버전을 싱글로 발매했다. 이 노래는 1966년 빌보드 핫 100 차트에서 10위에 올랐다. 미국 롹 밴드 도어즈(The Doors)는 1983년 이 노래의 커버 버전을 2번째 공식 라이브 앨범 'Alive, She Cried'(얼라이브, 쉬 크라이드)에 수록했다. 또한 싱글로도 발매되어 1983년 핫 메인스트림 롹 트랙(Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks) 차트에서 18위, 빌보드 핫 100 차트에서 71위에 올랐다.

미국 싱어송라이터 패티 스미스(Patti Smith)는 1975년 'Gloria'를 커버해서 그녀의 데뷔 스튜디오 앨범 'Horses'(호시즈)에 수록했다. 모리슨의 곡을 기반으로 한 가사는 초기 펑크 롹 운동을 위해 재창조되었으며 후렴만 그대로 유지했다. 스미스는 신성한 곡목에 아이러니한 암시를 추가했다.
