'She Sells Sanctuary(쉬 셀즈 생츄어리)'는 1985년 10월 18일 발매된 UK 롹 밴드 컬트(The Cult)의 두 번째 스튜디오 앨범 'Love(러브)'의 9번 트랙 수록곡이다. 이 트랙은 1985년 5월 13일 앨범보다 먼저 싱글로 커트되어 나왔다. 그해 7월 이 곡은 UK 싱글 차트 15위에 올랐으며, 1993년 1월에는 차트를 역주행해 UK 싱글 차트 15위를 기록하는 한편 뉴질랜드 차트에서는 톱 10에 진입했다.

'She Sells Sanctuary'의 녹음 세션에는 이안 아스트베리(Ian Astbury, 리드 보컬), 빌리 더피(Billy Duffy, 기타), 제이미 스튜어트(Jamie Stewart, 베이스 기타), 나이절 프레스턴(Nigel Preston, 드럼) 등 밴드 멤버 4명이 공식 라인업으로 참여했다. 사이먼 클리니(Simon Kliney, 페어라이트)는 객원 연주자로 참여했다. 앨범 발매 직후 드러머 프레스턴은 밴드에서 해고되었다.

'She Sells Sanctuary'는 프론트맨 보컬 아스트베리와 기타리스트 더피가 공동으로 썼으며, 제작은 스티브 브라운(Steve Brown)이 맡았다. 장르는 고식 롹(Gothic rock), 포스트-펑크(post-punk), 올터너티브 롹(alternative rock)을 넘나든다. 러닝 타임은 4분 23초, 6분 58초(long version) 등 두 가지가 있다.

'She Sells Sanctuary'의 상징적인 인트로 연주는 모든 기타 이펙트 페달이 동시에 켜진 결과였다. 기타리스트 더피는 스튜디오 주변에 있는 바이올린 활을 발견하고 보컬리스트 아스트베리를 즐겁게 해주기 위해 지미 페이지(Jimmy Page)처럼 기타를 연주하기 시작했다. 더피는 "사운드가 더 이상하게 들리도록 모든 이펙트 페달을 밟은 다음 곡의 중간 부분을 연주했다. 그리고 우리는 그 신비로운 사운드로 노래를 시작하기로 했다. 바이올린 활이 주변에 없었다면 우리는 그렇게 하지 않았을 것이다."라고 말했다.

팝 칼럼니스트 로버트 다이머리(Robert Dimery)는 "메스암페타민(methamphetamine)을 잔뜩 먹은 짐 모리슨처럼 으르렁거리는 이안 아스트베리와 그의 'world turns around' 반복구도 인상 깊지만, 'Shes Sells Sanctuary'의 진정한 힘은 빌리 더피의 최면성 강한 훅에 있다. 이 기타리스트의 트레이드마크인 '화음 3개, 그리고 진실성'이라는 연주 철학은 그의 1970년대 산 백색 그레치(Gretsch) 기타를 통해 전해지고, 이 곡을 포스트-펑크 시대를 향한 거수 경례로 탈바꿈시켰다. 곡의 패어런트 앨범 'Love'를 통해 밴드는 서던 데스 컬트라는 고스-펑크적 과거로부터 방향을 틀어 AC/DC적 리듬과 레드 제플린풍 편성이 지배하는 미래를 향해 전진하게 된다."고 평했다.
